The Best Fencing for Small, Mid-Range, and Large Budgets

If you look around at fences in the Frederick, MD and surrounding areas, it is obvious that fences come in all shapes, sizes, and materials. What is less obvious, however, is the price point of each style. Homeowners who do not have any previous experience with fencing, general construction, or even DIY may be completely surprised by what a considerable investment a new fence can be. So, how do you go about choosing a fence that’s right for you AND one that you can afford? Factors such as family, pets, lifestyle, and yard design play an important role in choosing a fence. However, if sticking to a particular budget number is your highest priority, then you’ve come to the right blog post.

Low-Budget Fence Solutions

When you choose Frederick Fence Company, a low-budget fence option does not mean low quality. Our philosophy is to provide the best possible price on all our products, which are sourced from high quality, reputable vendors, chosen because they share our commitment to quality and service. With that in mind, here are the three most low-budget friendly fence options we offer. . .

Split Rail- Constructed with FRESH cut pressure treated pine wood material. This fence comes in two, three, four, and five rail options. 4’ tall, three rail being the most popular style and sufficient for most needs. Split rail fencing works wonderful as pet fencing, boundary fencing, perimeter fencing, even pool fencing! Although the addition of wire may be required.

Wood Paddock– Paddock fencing comes in an abundance of post and board selections; the lowest cost combination being 1”x 6” rough sawn pressure treated pine boards on 4”x 4” square posts. Paddock fencing is commonly used for basic backyard fence and farm solutions.

Chain Link– This woven galvanized steel wire fence is a great option for most residential applications, plus it lasts a very long time. Wood fences have a lifespan of about 15-20 years. Chain link, though more expensive, is likely to last to the end of your lifetime and beyond! When considering time as value for money, chain link would be your most valuable low-budget fence style option.

Mid-Range Budget Fence Solutions

Wood and White Vinyl Privacy– Simple full privacy fencing, without added decorative features, is first on the list of mid-range budget fencing. If you desire privacy, this is the obvious choice. Your Fence Co. sales representative can provide price comparisons between cedar, pressure treated pine, and white vinyl. All these can be comparable depending on the layout.

Vinyl Ranch– “ranch” fencing is the vinyl version of wood paddock. Vinyl material offers additional benefits such as an exponentially longer lifespan and almost zero required maintenance.

Stock Aluminum– Frederick Fence currently stocks three black aluminum style options: 4’ tall 3-rail, 4.5’ tall 3-rail, and 5’ tall 3-rail. Our stock aluminum is a popular choice for pool fences. Our other available aluminum requires special order, which almost always means it will be more expensive.

High-Budget Fence Solutions

Lower-budget fencing options are simple, straightforward, and efficient. They get the job done well with no added fuss. They are the bread and butter of Fence Co’s day-to-day business. At the other end of the price spectrum exists many various kinds of decorative, high grade, and complicated fence styles to choose from. If you want to go stronger, more ornate, and longer lasting, you will be required to pay a premium, especially in the current materials market.

Decorative Wood Privacy– Any additional details that make a wood privacy fence more decorative and require more time to install will add to the cost. Examples of costly additions are trim boards, cap boards, upgraded wood or metal post caps, lattice, spindles, dips or arches, and sandwiched (double) boards.

Colored Vinyl– Frederick Fence stocks white vinyl for all installation and retail customers. We also keep a rather limited stock of beige vinyl, which we install quite frequently in and around the Frederick area.  Unique vinyl colors carry a high price tag and are not always available from our suppliers.

Grey vinyl semi-privacy fence

Custom Aluminum/Steel– Special order aluminum and steel fencing can be very expensive indeed. Grades or strength ratings range from residential, which we stock, to municipal and industrial grade, which are suitable for commercial uses.  Anything even remotely decorative must be special ordered as well. It is very common for our residential customers to opt for something commercial grade, more decorative, or of a different color, but not the rule.

Composite, Resin, and Others– There are several extremely high-end products on the fencing market that Frederick Fence continues to offer due to their quality and customer satisfaction. A few of these are SimTek resin, TREX composite, Goliath Multi-Post System with custom infill, and Digger Specialties mixed material gates and panels. For the customer looking for something more than just basic fencing on a budget, these are some options that we would show you. The long-term beauty and durability of these products make them a good investment in many homeowners’ opinions, even for such a considerable price tag.
