Privacy Fencing with lattice
Privacy fencing with lattice has always been a popular design choice among our customers. There are three lattice top fence design options to choose from in both wood and vinyl: standard diagonal, privacy diagonal, and standard square lattice. Standard lattice spacing is approx. 2”x2” compared to 1”x1” on privacy lattice. Square lattice spacing is also approx. 2”x2” in size. Some examples of these lattice top fence design options, provided below, might help provide an idea of what the different options look like. . .
How much more will you pay for a lattice top fence design on a privacy fence?
Because of the added intricacy in design and installation of lattice work on a wood or vinyl fence, the price naturally increases. You will pay approx. 20% more for a wood privacy fence with lattice as opposed to without. The vinyl option is much closer in price, however, at about an 8% increase.

Although less common than lattice, spindles are a wonderful addition to any privacy fence. There are both “open” and “closed” spindle top fence options available. Open spindle toppers are not enclosed at the top by any type of cap, so the top of the fence essentially looks like it has points or spears. Closed spindles are enclosed with a cap above the spindles, which yields quite a different look. Some examples of privacy spindle top fences are below for your viewing and consideration. . .
How much more will you pay for a spindle top fence design on a privacy fence?
Adding spindles to a privacy fence does cost a bit more than adding lattice. The spindle top sections are not premade and therefore must be installed one by one on the job sight. Wood fences with spindles will cost you 30% more than a wood privacy fence without them. The vinyl numbers are still a bit lower than wood. You will pay 20%-25% more for a vinyl spindle top fence than for one without spindles.
Lattice and Spindles on gates?
As shown in the many examples above, vinyl gates are often constructed with either lattice or spindles with ease. Feel free to match the rest of your fence with lattice/spindles all around, or add a topper to the gate only for just a touch of extra detail.
Wood gates generally are not able to support lattice or spindles. The nature of wood, the way it shifts and moves, does not lend itself to being a realistic option for adding decorative toppers. Custom gates are an option, such as what is pictured below, but there is not a “stock” option for wood gates with lattice or spindles.
