WHEN should I consider a fence for my child’s safety?
Some aspects about your home’s setting will require you to put extra effort towards child safety. Consider the environment in which you live. . . is it rural? Suburban? City? No-Climb Fence Styles to Consider
Several fence style options we offer are virtually unclimbable. 1”x2” wire mesh attached to the INSIDE of any 3’-5’ tall open fence, such as paddock, split rail, or estate fencing is extremely difficult to climb. This is also one of the more budget friendly no-climb fence style options. If you have a pool, this same wire specification is required to have installed on the outside of your pool fencing so that small children cannot climb into the pool area unaccompanied.
Vinyl and wood privacy fences are another fantastic no-climb option. These family friendly fences are popular in suburban areas since they provide privacy for your yard space as well as security. Vinyl in particular provides a wonderful long term investment value for family homes.
Note: Some styles of wood privacy fences (pictured here) have horizonal runners on which a person could get a foothold to climb over. Make sure your fence is facing the direction in which you wish to deter climbing. Ask your FenceCo. sales rep for additional guidance.

Push and tug on fence posts and rails to check for broken or rotten posts, record any signs of rot, and check gate function.
